THE DAY YOU PAINTED THE STARS

Copy of Making art is a collective effort, and it could not happen without those who belie

The Day You Painted the Stars (TDYPTS) explores grief and self-discovery through movement. The choreography delves into the depths of the subconscious, where through meditation, the protagonist navigates encounters with alternate dimensions and meetings with their shadow self. As they unravel the profound impact of loss and how it has transformed their world, they also embrace the beautiful and challenging energies left behind by their loved ones. This work captures the cyclical nature of grief, where the individual absorbs, integrates, and ultimately continues the legacy of those who have passed on.

TDYPTS is relevant and vital today as it addresses universal themes of grief and self-discovery that resonate deeply with audiences, particularly when many people are grappling with loss and seeking ways to navigate through it. By delving into the subconscious and exploring the complexities of grief through movement, the choreography offers a unique and cathartic experience for both performers and viewers. Additionally, the portrayal of the cyclical nature of grief serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring impact of those we have lost. Overall, this work has the potential to provide solace, healing, and a sense of connection to individuals experiencing similar emotions, making its creation timely and relevant.

TDYPTS premiered on November 15-16th, 2024, at The Graham in Wake Forest, NC, co-presented by Fire Box Theatre Company to sold-out audiences.
